Pool Ponies

IMGA Pool Pony Draw System

Pool ponies are allocated by an equitable draw using a pre-draw to avoid alphabetical bias. Ponies are pre-graded (A–E) and sorted into three size-based bags (>14hh, >13.1hh, <13.1hh). Teams pick in pre-draw order, choosing from the grade and size that suits their rider. If a size bag is empty, teams may choose from the next grade or a different size in the same grade.

Selections proceed in rounds; if enough Grade A ponies exist, multiple rounds use Grade A, otherwise move to Grade B, then lower grades. After each round, selection order rotates: the first team goes to last, everyone else moves up one place.
