IMGA Breathalyser Policy

Breathalyser Policy of the International Mounted Games Association

All Open and U18 riders, trainers, referees and assistant referees must take a daily breathalyser test (zero-alcohol limit) before their first session, including practice days. Testing begins at least 75 minutes before competition and is the responsibility of trainers to attend on time. U15 and U12 riders are not routinely tested unless there is suspicion; random tests may occur.

Riders under 18 must not drink alcohol at any IMGA event—any violation results in immediate disqualification and a report sent to their home country.

Anyone who blows above zero must retest on a second device. If still positive, they must wait until they register zero before competing. Riders or trainers who fail are barred from the arena for their current session plus the next two sessions. Trainers who fail may coach from outside the arena or appoint a substitute who must also pass testing. A 6th rider may replace a failed rider in teams for the remainder of the competition.

Host nations supply staff and equipment and must brief participants on procedures.
